Whistler, Canada

header-whistler

This one is for the skiing lovers out there like me!

I just had one of the shittiest winters ever and did not get to ski, not even once. My skis stayed locked in the garage for an entire Canadian winter. If that’s not sad, I don’t know what is. Apparently, now we don’t have snow, we’re just all turning into icicles. Wonderful, peachy. It’s not like I don’t have somethings I want to do. Like ski.

Solution? I’ll pack my bags and go ski at the wonderful mountain over in British Columbia called Whistler.

Check it out:

The Whistler resort area, north of Vancouver in British Columbia, exists because of skiing. With more than 8,000 acres over 2 mountains, Whistler and Blackcomb, it’s the largest skiable area in North America. That distinction – and its roughly 12m of yearly snowfall – helped it earn co-hosting duties at the 2010 Winter Olympics. Its hub is a compact, chalet-style pedestrian village.

May Summary & Shoutout

I actually found this idea while going through my reader and it seemed like a fun idea for me to go over some things. Good for me and anyone who wants a basic sum up of the weirdness that has been me this month.

First though! Shoutout to all of my readers, followers and all the people in between for following along on my blog. It means so much to have just made it to 600+ views and I can’t wait to continue through the summer months on this adventure.
Special shoutout to Sakshi Gour as well for giving me my first nomination, the One Lovely Blog Award. It really did mean a lot, so thank you again.

Let’s start with the blog achievements because it was actually just last night talking to Michelle that I realized, holy shit I have made some achievements. Fangirl, disbelief and excitement. Three words to sum up that reaction. And I needed to get homework done too, talk about distracting, but let’s face it, blogging is so much more fun than homework. Kitty Time – A Post In The Past

So about four, nearly five years ago actually, my family got so lucky as to be home to six little kittens when Luna, our dear, evil calico became pregnant. Here’s a little picture montage of my time with my six special little kitties and there momma.

Our dear mother Luna remains quite moody and bipolar although she was a spectacular mom.

And of course she’s tortured by the one daughter we kept, Cali otherwise known as Chub chubs

Blank Page

Inspired by Daily Post word prompt Blank

Smooth and calm, pages etched from unknown
Upon which, stories may be sewn.
Clean and clear, open to all for life.
Possibilities of both love and strife.

Open it up,
The urge calls loud and burning.
One page,
Open and none will stop you from learning;

The essence of happy,
Fun and beauty in the sun
The truth of sorrow,
A battle of mind not won.
The weight of anger,
Never without a cost.
The facts of life,
In which, bright and dark crossed.

And so…

The pages lay before you.
They are ready, the pen in hand.
Take hold right now,
The world will never be bland.
It is yours at the making,
All wishes yours to keep.
So every day fill your pages,
Before you go to sleep.

Good luck.

8 Symptoms of a Book Hangover

Definition of said hangover: When you’ve finished a book and you suddenly return to the real world, but the real world feels incomplete or surreal because you’re still living in the world of the book.

Fetal Position. If you find yourself stuck in the fetal position after reading and finishing a book, book hangover is upon you for sure. Or you could be cold. Fetal_position_cry

Tears. Bursting into irrational tears at any moment or mention of the book causing the problem. This also relates to whole problem where the book is over and you’re wanting to know more like tumblr_inline_n52a6sjogg1rlmg0o Continue reading “8 Symptoms of a Book Hangover”

A-Z Life Quotes

A – A scar simply means you were stronger than whatever tried to hurt you.

B – Better to get hurt by the truth than comforted with a lie.

C – Continue to dance through the rain, it’s more fun than you might realize.

D – Don’t worry over what other people are thinking about you. They’re too busy worrying over what you are thinking about them.

E –  Every worry isn’t important. Worry only about what is in front of you and even then, don’t bother.

F – Finish each day and be done with it. You have done what you could. Some blunders and absurdities no doubt crept in; forget them as soon as you can. Tomorrow is a new day. You shall begin it serenely and with too high a spirit to be encumbered with your old nonsense. Continue reading “A-Z Life Quotes”

An Empty Cliff

The cliff looms before me
The journey below left unseen

From behind,
Words ring true.
Unpleasant and cruel,
I believe them too.
One step, two step, edge creeps closer

From Behind,
A smack echoes clearly
Startling an wrong,
I wince just barely.
Closer and closer to the ledge

From behind,
Creeps a world of cold.
Joyless and empty,
Where my life is told.
Feet go forward, one in front of the other.

Dare turn back,
Sounds the whispers
You are not missed
What lies behind right now,
You are nothing in their midst.
One step, two step.

Make it, jump it, whispers the wind.
It calls and screams.
Beckons forward.
Another step.

A tear, trailing to the frigid ground.
Closer to the edge.
Whispers of both,
With what they allege.
Next step.

A look, a glance.
To over the edge.
The cliff looms and cries
One soul to another above the ledge.
A smile, so strange.
Holding secrets aplenty
Eyes, suddenly new.
A look to beyond, then

Gone

Slam Status

This one is for those without a different setting, that live in their world and only want that. What others want for them, for females, in irrelevant and this spoken word poet is amazing at getting that message of feminism and being your own self better than most I’ve seen. This poem of hers is one I watch again and again. I’m also sure Harry Potter fans will appreciate it.

Discussion: Vatican’s New Decision

This post was actually inspired by another blogger and her post that was both inspiring and infuriated me for what it explained and detailed: Unchain My Heart: On The Emotional Effectiveness – and Lingering Sexism – 0f Jewish Divorce

The post added to my previous attention and frustration on the matter of sexism in religions. So let’s clarify where it began quickly.
I go to a catholic school, although I’m not catholic or religious in the least really. I respect it, but it’s simply something that’s not necessary in my life. This morning on the announcements after the national anthem and the morning prayer, she mentions excitedly on the PA system; “The Pope has agreed to allow women to be deacons.” Priests basically.

Now this is a pretty picture except for the one word added in there, by another woman no less, allow. So he is so gracious and amazing due to his allowing woman to do something that they should have been able to do in the first place. Continue reading “Discussion: Vatican’s New Decision”
