So recently I went out with some friends for dinner and a movie during Christmas break. Seniors in high school prepping ourselves for university. What else would we go to see but Disney’s latest movie Moana.
Suffice to say, our introduction to the newest ‘princess’ did not disappoint. I think it was the most beautiful thing ever and by far the best movie to kick off 2017 with.
Beyond doubt, that movie was an emotional roller coaster ride. I was holding back tears and the next second laughing and feeling the joy of the water. My one friend was in tears and so was another and that was her second time seeing the movie. And trust me we are not softies.
I think it was everything that put this movie together and more that made it beautiful. From the story line, the voice actors (I mean Dwayne Johnson? Yes), the MUSIC and how much effort was put into making it authentic to the real deal. One video that talked about the effort put into the movie for keeping it authentic you can check out here. I really did enjoy the look into stories of creation that originate from Hawaii. And the voice actors were actually Hawaiian. Considering movie makers tendency sometimes for ‘white washing’ it was a relief.
Also, the music! I mentioned it earlier, but I need to again. Yes, yes, yes. I’m in love. While writing this I have the chrome cast on the TV and I’m playing the Moana soundtrack on the speakers. Talk about good feels? Best thing ever with how tense I’ve been feeling lately.
I think I need to address how on point some of the lines and such were in this movie too. First and foremost, Moana was already drawn before Auli’i Cravalho was cast as her voice actor. And yet,
I’m not getting over it. Dwayne Johnson and Maui also have enough in common that I’m just going to walk away haha.
Anyways, I don’t know, this movie should really speak for itself when you watch it so I should really stop. It was just so wonderful and made me so happy. Definitely will be in for re-watching. So watch it, whether you’re still a kid my age or fully adulting. Go experience this Disney movie and join me in this love.
What’s your favourite parts to the Moana movie if you’ve seen it? Let me know in the comments!
Until next time,
