Role Model

A friend shared this video with me, then I saw this prompt and went, okay yea, I need to share it to more people too.

Role Model – Hall of Fame

This video was just so cute. And of course I already love the song and this version of it just brought cute little feels to my tiny heart. It was done really well.

This is why I really appreciated Moana and Brave, I ranted about Moana awhile ago here. The newer movies are just so much better in message and in ideas. The independence people! Love it. Of course the sound track tops it all off.

What do you think of the video?

One Word

The story should be brief
The telling no different
A simple statement of facts
But you would remain ignorant
Were facts the tool to tell
A story which must be told
Of a girl once young, now not
You may listen to this story unfold

A world of ideas and concepts
Expectations and wants
For what fits the interests
And who guilt haunts Continue reading “One Word”

Punishing Yourself

This post was inspired by Daily Post word prompt: Punishment

Weight.

Crushing down upon your head. Bruising and pounding. Trapped in the ground.

Thorns.

Wrapping tightly won’t let go. Every word, every touch. Brings in closer the looming pain.

Knives.

Sharp and clear. Pierce your skin. Blood runs down. The pain returns.

Rope.

Tempting, taunting. What holds me back? Pain releasing. Tears unfurling.

Life.

Laughter and light. Lies and betrayal. Pain and pleasure. Not time for goodbye.

Masked

Inspired by Daily Post word prompt, Darkness

Eyes shut tight, to hide out beyond,
Holding to nothing, freed from my bonds.
Permitted to go, forced to stay,
Standing up tall, beginning to sway.
Unable to leave, can no longer remain.

A mask to hide the scars,
A smile to hide the wars.
All I plead, falls on false ears.
They no longer hear.
I no longer stay.

Gone from the beyond.
Released from those bonds.

My name is Mask.
You don’t know me.
But it’s all you’ll ever see.

Summer Begins

I originally wasn’t going to do this post, or at least I was going to put it off because I’m a procrastinator, so this is inspired by Daily Post word prompt Clouds. Thanks for kicking me into gear with random words.

Anyways, summer has arrived! frozen-samme-mejias-6

I made it through exams, ignoring the results because…yea tough semester kicked my ass suffice to say. Moving on! This is one of my last summers before going off to university and the next stage of life so I really do want to make the best of it. Officially a grade 12! And it’s weirding me out.

In honour of summer coming up I am making a summer 2016 bucket list because obviously I always need to make goals I won’t complete, at least not in one summer. I’ll still try and hopefully this will keep me busy, away from boredom and full of inspiration.  Continue reading “Summer Begins”

Behind The Books

This post was inspired by Daily Post’s word prompt Understanding

quote-by-w-somerset-maugham

I feel like this is something that can be easy to forget. Whether you remember it’s happening or the book and its events sweep you away. But I want to take a step back into what’s behind the books. How a truly good book in any genre, will have much more for you than an entertaining story. It will give you more and leave you with a gift if only you know how to find it. This, is why books and writing are held so dear to me.

Blank Page

Inspired by Daily Post word prompt Blank

Smooth and calm, pages etched from unknown
Upon which, stories may be sewn.
Clean and clear, open to all for life.
Possibilities of both love and strife.

Open it up,
The urge calls loud and burning.
One page,
Open and none will stop you from learning;

The essence of happy,
Fun and beauty in the sun
The truth of sorrow,
A battle of mind not won.
The weight of anger,
Never without a cost.
The facts of life,
In which, bright and dark crossed.

And so…

The pages lay before you.
They are ready, the pen in hand.
Take hold right now,
The world will never be bland.
It is yours at the making,
All wishes yours to keep.
So every day fill your pages,
Before you go to sleep.

Good luck.

Current Book Phase

This post was inspired by Daily Post Word Prompt – Phase

Because let’s face it, we all have different phases for different books, genres, writing styles, etc. That list can probably go on forever. I’d love to know why we do it, but I don’t know a book reader that doesn’t ever have some phase for a certain type of book at the very least. I mean where does it come from? tumblr_mkujv6ymbz1qjnucto1_400

Our minds literally decide every once and awhile, hey, I like that kind of book, I will only enjoy that kind of book. Frustrating but true. So as book readers we just sit back and live that life and other people question it and we’re just tumblr_inline_mwdpps8zkj1s7vmxe

Advice to the Parents

I use this blog for many things when it comes to my creativity. But not only that. It’s quickly becoming a place to put my real thoughts out there and  I appreciate that in ways you can’t imagine.
Right now, the topic is obvious enough, but allow me to clarify slightly.

Parents that don’t, or outright refuse, to understand. That take out there on frustrations on their kids. Make us into verbal punching bags when the mood strikes. And make it as if saying something back would be rude, because ‘hey, it’s your parent, they’re stressed’ and let’s not forget ‘I owe it to them’.

For reasons I will never understand, my mom has quite the habit of it. I’m not trying to be a bratty teenager. I’m quite mature, almost at the university stage and try to understand her frustrations as much as I possibly can. But, back to that, I’m a mentally unstable teenager who can’t always do that. I am nowhere near the perfect kid, my room is a mess, I’m forgetful and distracted and tend to seclude myself to my room. But that’s who I am. My mom is opinionated, strong, forceful and judgemental when it comes down to it. She just forgets that she’s my main parent figure and whatever she says has a huge and lasting effect, and recently she crossed a line.
So lately she’s been stuck on me about little things. Then I’m getting anxious this morning so I decide I’m going to go to lunch with my friend. She called and…some things were said to me that I don’t believe will be possible for me to forget.

That’s not what I plan to focus on though. I want to hand out some advice for the parents out there, from one of the kids in hopes that I help out in some way.  Continue reading “Advice to the Parents”
