Role Model

A friend shared this video with me, then I saw this prompt and went, okay yea, I need to share it to more people too.

Role Model – Hall of Fame

This video was just so cute. And of course I already love the song and this version of it just brought cute little feels to my tiny heart. It was done really well.

This is why I really appreciated Moana and Brave, I ranted about Moana awhile ago here. The newer movies are just so much better in message and in ideas. The independence people! Love it. Of course the sound track tops it all off.

What do you think of the video?

One Word

The story should be brief
The telling no different
A simple statement of facts
But you would remain ignorant
Were facts the tool to tell
A story which must be told
Of a girl once young, now not
You may listen to this story unfold

A world of ideas and concepts
Expectations and wants
For what fits the interests
And who guilt haunts Continue reading “One Word”

To Them, From Us

To those left unheard.
Your voice is strong.
You will find it.
I will hear you.

To those shoved aside.
Your body is invincible.
They cannot take what you do.
I will stand by your side.

To those they pretend are not worthy.
Your worth is yours.
Catcalls mean nothing.
We will be worthy together.

To those who’s bodies are no longer their own.
You will take back what is yours.
They have not the power you do.
We will take it back together.

For the injustice they create.
For the abortion clinics protested.
For the boys “just being boys”
For the women and girls expected to take it.

They will hear us.
We will go on.

This poem was inspired by the following prompt and a poem written by my friend Sarah that she showed me this morning about the Women’s March.
I have to admit to hesitating posting this, politics are not my thing and I’m not looking for hate. But if I can’t use this platform to express myself, then I might as well shut it down now.

Questions To Destroy

The meet, the greet, the get-to-know.
The smile, the hug, the happiness I come to show.
Something there, a connection formed.
To one not much, but to me?

A glowing connection.
Proof – I am worth something.
But, dependency perhaps?

Love of father and daughter.
Not by blood, certainly not.
Is that truly necessary?

A heart to be hurt.
A connection to fade.
A glow to dim.
Is that all it ever was?
Love ever so fickle.
I didn’t believe it. I swear.
Yet I’m hurting.
So I must be lying.
Or were you?
The will to fight.
The strength to go on.
Love riding through to the happy beyond.
Maybe it died before it arrived?
A glowing connection.
Love of father and daughter.
A heart to be hurt.
Love ever so fickle.
The will to fight.
But was it ever there to fight for?
